Ellagic Acid
Ellagic Acid is a naturally occurring plant phenol found in various berries (1.5-2%),
pomegranate (up to 90%) as well as other more exotic plants. Numerous studies show Ellagic
Acid to be an effective inhibitor of cancer cell growth. Ellagic Acid acts as a scavenger
to bind cancer-causing chemicals, making them inactive. Ellagic Acid also inhibits the
ability of other chemicals to cause mutations in bacteria; and it prevents binding of
carcinogens to DNA and reduces the incidence of cancer in cultured human cells exposed to
carcinogens.
